EeeeeeYoooouuuu! How to spot personal attacks on social media, and avoid wasting time.

When a post — a reply or an unsolicited comment arrives in your inbox, count the number of YOU pronouns.

eeeeYoouuuu need to read more books. Maybe eeeeYooouuu should do more research. eeeeYoooouuuu should question your assumptions. eeeeYoooooour mom should have taught you better. eeeeYooouuuu should pay less attention to the Right Wing, and listen ta dis guy/gal instead. eeeeYoooouuu shouldn’t say racist things. eeeeYouuuuu should be more grateful to your country. eeeeYoouuuu eeeeYoouuuu eeee Yoouuuuuuuuuu.

Don’t engage. Obviously, it won’t end in agreement. But it won’t even end in “Thanks for the discussion. I don’t agree with your conclusions, but you gave me some food for thought.”

These types of discussions are a waste of time, and if eeeeYooouuuu are paying attention, then eeeeYooouuu should have learned this from the 2016 General, when a Hillary supporter couldn’t convince eeeeYoooouuu to support their Not Trump candidate.

This is my first post, impulsively written after getting pissed at something totally unrelated (ordering a User’s Guide two times, and getting the wrong book both times). This is UnEdited.
