Caitlin,
I’m sorry about what happened to you. I almost don’t want to know, would rather avoid being reminded about the truly ugly aspects of humanity.
“ a specific slice of humanity that is neurologically wired in such a way that they experience the world more as a series of puzzles which can be manipulated”
Might be more like experiencing the world as games, and other humans as monopoly pieces to move around.
“Even if you completely tore down capitalism, ended plutocracy and replaced the entire system with a government-planned economy, you would still have positions of power and the absolute certainty of psychopaths…”
I guess I’m in the camp that believes that the end of Capitalism would resolve most of the power struggles by removing most of the incentive. Whatever ‘evils’ are left, will be easier to spot, and there would be more resources to deal with them.
But that is so far from where we are now, from what we are capable of doing right now, that speculation is a fool’s errand, guaranteed to be inaccurate in most of the details.
Still, moving to a sustainable economy would solve a whole slew of problems. Or rather, the problems simply wouldn’t exist anymore. Can you say “Goodbye War Machine”?
Damn. Now we’re gonna worry about you, C.J. I hope you’re not overly traumatized, and that you have sufficient resources to work your way through this.
Regards,
DC
